Sandy Hook Light

Sandy Hook Light
The oldest working lighthouse in the United States, this lighthouse was built on June 11, 1764 - dozens of years before the Declaration of Independence. This was the fifth lighthouse in the colonies.
This is also the first lighthouse in the country to be lit by electric incandescent lamps in 1889. The lighthouse is located on the northern end of Sandy Hook.
The keepers building seen here was built in 1883, replacing an old dwelling on the site
The 1000 watt bulb in the Fresnel lens emits 45,000 candle-power light and is visible 19 miles at sea.

Buttermilk falls
Buttermilk falls is probably one of the few waterfalls in New Jersey with a developed viewing area. The waterfalls drop 80-90 feet over the red rocks of the Kittatinny ridge, and make a spectacular sight after a rainfall.

The Victory Bridge is a highway bridge in the U.S. state of New Jersey that carries Route 35 over the Raritan River, connecting the Middlesex County communities of Perth Amboy on the north and Sayreville to the south. The bridge is operated and maintained by the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT). This picture is taken from the Perth Amboy side. City lights of Sayreville is in the distance. Also seen is the Driscoll bridge in the background.

A night-time picture of the now historic place of what was the waterfront passenger terminal of the Central Railroad of New Jersey. The building was constructed in 1889 but was abandoned in 1967. The headhouse was later renovated.
