The Common Kingfisher's nest is an excavated burrow usually in a low vertical riverkbank.

The Common Kingfisher has a special adaptation to see prey under water where its open eyes underwater are protected by a transparent third eyelid (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nictitating_membrane)
